Those damn speed on green cameras

Well, it's now been 1 day since the speed on green cameras in Calgary have been set to take your money if you've been speeding through a green, yellow or red light. I don't think I’m the only one who finds this stupid.

The Calgary Police Service says this will reduce the amount of people going to hospitals because of high speed collisions. Maybe I’m just an ill informed Calgarian but when i was 5, I was taught green means go, yellow means slow down and red means stop. I mean I see the need for the red light camera because you're running a red light and someone coming the opposite way, could hit you. Simple as that. But really now? Speed-on-green cameras? CASH COW.

The police have released many figures saying that X amount of people were hurt in high speed accidents at intersections in whatever year. To me, they look inflated and are only there to swing the public onto their side of the street. They even want to charge people with driving without due care (reckless driving). How are you going to charge someone with reckless driving when you only have a picture of the car and not the person? The big boss at Alberta Justice already told Calgary Police they are going too far by interpreting the law into something else to workout in their favor. STRIKE 1.

How far will the Calgary Police go before they start controlling everything you do in life to make sure you're "following the law?"
